The MELT Method
Do you feel like stress has invaded your body?
Tight hands, aching feet, a neck that never quite unwinds — stress doesn’t just live in your mind. It gets stuck in your tissue. And over time, it shows up as pain, tension, and that bone-deep exhaustion that sleep can’t fix.
The good news? You can do something about it — starting today.
“Self-care is the best healthcare.”
— Sue Hitzmann, Creator of The MELT Method

The MELT Method is a simple, science-backed self-care technique developed by New York City manual therapist Sue Hitzmann. By using small, soft balls to apply gentle compression to the hands and feet, MELT rehydrates your connective tissue — the often-overlooked system that supports everything in your body.
This isn’t deep tissue work. There is no pain. You are not forcing anything.
You are creating the conditions for your body to heal itself.
-
The hands and feet contain more mechanoreceptors — nerve endings that communicate with your brain and nervous system — than almost anywhere else in the body.
When you treat the hands and feet with gentle, intentional compression, you send signals throughout your entire connective tissue system. Stuck stress releases. Fluid returns to dehydrated tissue. Your nervous system begins to regulate.
You feel the difference before you leave the room.

The most important thing I’ve learned as a MELT instructor is this: less is always more.
Your body doesn’t need force. It needs presence. When you learn to bring gentle, intentional attention to your hands and feet, you begin a conversation with your nervous system that can change everything.
